A Clinical Decision Unit is a location often within the Emergency Department where patients who likely require admission will move to while their condition stabilises, or they receive tests that allow admitting specialist teams to give a likely diagnosis. Often patients with symptoms that could be associated with multiple conditions are treated in these locations until a clinical team is able to formulate a treatment plan.
